Carverall C1 40W CO₂ Laser Cutter FAQs
Find answers about compatible materials, cutting capacity, software, camera positioning, cooling, safety, maintenance and accessories for the Carverall C1.
What materials can the Carverall C1 engrave and cut?
The C1 can engrave and cut wood, plywood, MDF, acrylic, leather, paper, cardboard, cork, rubber, fabric and other CO₂-laser-compatible materials. It can also engrave glass, stone, ceramic and coated or anodized metal surfaces. Because material composition varies, we recommend testing a small sample before processing the final project.
How thick can the Carverall C1 cut?
Under suitable conditions, the 40W C1 can cut wood up to 15 mm and acrylic up to 10 mm. Maximum cutting capacity may require multiple passes and depends on material density, glue content, focus, air-assist airflow, laser power and cutting speed.
Can the C1 cut clear or transparent acrylic?
Yes. The C1 uses a 10.6 μm CO₂ laser that can cut many clear, transparent, translucent and colored acrylic sheets. This is an important advantage over blue diode lasers, which generally cannot process transparent acrylic effectively.
Can the C1 engrave or cut metal?
The 40W C1 cannot cut metal. It can engrave coated, painted or anodized metal by removing the surface coating. Bare stainless steel and other uncoated metals normally require a compatible laser-marking spray. For direct or deep metal engraving, a fiber laser is more suitable.
What is the working area of the C1?
The C1 provides a large 620 × 350 mm working area, making it suitable for larger signs, acrylic projects, decorations and batch production of smaller items. The maximum specified workpiece height is 75 mm.
Does the C1 include a camera?
Yes. The C1 features an HD camera for visual positioning, work-area preview and automatic edge detection. The camera helps align designs with the material and supports contour cutting for printed graphics and irregularly positioned workpieces.
Is LightBurn compatible with the C1?
Yes. The C1 supports both LightBurn and Carverall’s CutLabX software. LightBurn provides advanced design and laser-control tools, while CutLabX offers a simpler, beginner-friendly workflow. CutLabX supports Windows and macOS.
What file formats does the C1 support?
Supported formats include JPG, JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF, PLT, HPGL and DXF. Actual import and output options may vary depending on whether you use CutLabX or LightBurn.
Does the C1 require assembly?
The C1 is delivered largely assembled. After unpacking, connect the required cables, water-cooling system, air pump and exhaust hose, install the software, focus the laser and perform a material test before beginning your first project.
Are water cooling and air assist included?
Yes. The C1 includes a water-cooling system and air pump. Water cooling helps maintain a stable laser-tube temperature during longer jobs. Air assist helps reduce smoke and burn marks, protects the lens and improves cutting-edge quality.
Does the C1 require external ventilation?
Yes. CO₂ laser engraving and cutting can produce smoke, odors and airborne particles. Connect the included exhaust hose to a safe outdoor location or use a suitable smoke purifier when working indoors.
What materials should never be processed with the C1?
Do not process PVC, vinyl or unknown materials that may release toxic or corrosive gases when heated. Also avoid highly reflective materials or materials with unknown chemical compositions until their laser compatibility has been confirmed by the manufacturer.
Can the C1 engrave tumblers and cylindrical objects?
Yes. The C1 supports an optional rotary attachment for engraving compatible cylindrical and curved objects such as tumblers, bottles, cups and round containers. Confirm the object diameter, weight and available internal height before selecting a rotary accessory.
Is the C1 suitable for beginners?
Yes. The enclosed design, camera positioning, air assist, water cooling and compatibility with CutLabX and LightBurn make the C1 suitable for both beginners and experienced makers. New users should begin with recommended settings and run a small material test before every new project.
Is the C1 safe for home or studio use?
The C1 uses an enclosed design and includes an emergency stop button, limit switches, safety sensors and a protective viewing window. However, proper ventilation, active supervision and fire-safety precautions are still required. Never leave the machine unattended while it is operating.
What voltage versions are available?
The C1 is available in regional 110V and 220V versions. Select the version that matches the electrical standard in your destination country and confirm the plug type before ordering.
How large and heavy is the C1?
The machine measures approximately 900 × 640 × 251 mm and weighs about 16.22 kg. The complete system with the water-cooling unit, air pump and honeycomb panel weighs approximately 25 kg. A strong, level workbench is recommended.
How long does the CO₂ laser tube last, and can it be replaced?
The CO₂ laser tube is a replaceable consumable. Its actual service life depends on operating power, cooling-water temperature, duty cycle, working environment and maintenance. Keeping the cooling system clean and avoiding unnecessary continuous operation at maximum power can help extend tube life.
What regular maintenance does the C1 require?
Regularly clean the lens and mirrors, remove debris from the work area, inspect the exhaust and air-assist paths, check mirror alignment and maintain clean cooling water at the recommended temperature. Disconnect the machine from power before cleaning or servicing it.
What warranty and after-sales support are included?
The current C1 offer includes a 12-month warranty and 24-hour online after-sales support. Customers can contact Carverall for software setup, operating guidance, troubleshooting and replacement-part assistance. Coverage is subject to the applicable warranty terms and exclusions.
