Carverall C1-45W CO2 Laser Engraver setup guide and wiring tutorial

Congratulations on upgrading to the Carverall C1-45W CO2 Laser Engraver! For any maker, moving from a standard diode laser to a desktop CO2 machine is an epic leap in capability. Equipped with a built-in HD camera, seamless support for top-tier software like LightBurn and CutLabX, and the superpower to cut crystal-clear acrylic, your creative possibilities have just expanded exponentially.

However, the wiring and operating logic of a CO2 laser tube is completely different from entry-level machines. To help you avoid common detours and prevent any accidental damage, we have prepared this ultimate step-by-step visual setup tutorial. Follow along, and you will be cutting flawless projects today!

Step 1: Wiring & "Life Support" Systems

Before powering up, we must properly connect the communication cables, water chiller, and air assist systems.

  • Power & Data: Plug the main power cord into the Power Port on the back of the machine. Then, connect the PC Port to your computer using the provided USB cable (Type-B).

  • Water Chiller (CRITICAL): The tubing direction is crucial! You must connect the Water Outlet on the back of the machine to the Inlet Port on the chiller. Meanwhile, connect the machine's Water Inlet to the chiller's Outlet Port. Simply put: "Out to In, In to Out". Note: You must use purified water, and we highly recommend changing it once a month!

  • Air Assist: Connect the air pump hose to the Air Pump Port on the back of the machine. Finally, plug both the water chiller and the air pump into your power outlets.

Step 2: Correct Boot Sequence & Control Panel

⚠️ CRITICAL WARNING: Always turn on the water chiller FIRST. Visually confirm that the water is actively flowing through the tube before turning on the laser engraver. The air pump MUST be running during operation to prevent fire. Never leave the machine unattended while it is operating.

Once the water chiller and air pump are running normally, follow this exact sequence to boot up your device:

  1. Main Power: Flip the Power Switch on the back of the machine to the ON position.

  2. Emergency Stop Button: Check the E-Stop button on the front panel. Twist it clockwise so it pops out into the active position. This button must remain engaged during operation.

Step 3: Software Connection (LightBurn & CutLabX)

The C1-45W supports industry-standard LightBurn and our proprietary cross-platform app, CutLabX. Here is how to configure your laser software for the first run:

Option A: Using LightBurn (PC/Mac)

  • Ensure the USB cable is connected. Open LightBurn, click on "Devices" in the bottom right corner, and select "Create Manually". Choose GRBL from the controller list, and select USB/Serial for the connection type.

Step 5: The Golden Cheat Sheet for Wood & Acrylic

You are fully set up and ready to burn! Here are our recommended parameters that you can plug straight into your software.
*Note: These settings are recommended starting points and may vary slightly depending on material density and machine conditions.

Recommended Starting Settings (Wood & Acrylic)

If you want to engrave patterns or text on wood or acrylic, we recommend this highly versatile baseline setting:

  • Engraving Speed: 9999 mm/min
  • Engraving Power: 15%

Wood Cutting Parameters

Wood Thickness Speed Power Result
3mm Plywood 1100 mm/min 80% Clean edges, fast cut
8mm Plywood 190 mm/min 89% Perfect cut, drops out naturally
